Pilates In the classes, Íris uses the traditional ‘classical mat’ pilates system, which was designed by Joseph Pilates himself. The system is based on a series of exercises that are performed with an emphasis on core strength, body movement, and awareness, led in a continuous flow to elongate and strengthen the body. In contrast to the traditional system, some classes will follow a ‘contemporary pilates’ approach, where tools such as pilates balls and the magic circle are used.
Barre is a versatile strength-training method that focuses on building muscular strength, improving flexibility, enhancing posture and alignment, developing coordination, and creating more efficient movement patterns. Rooted in both classical ballet technique and the Lotte Berk method, Barre combines dynamic movement, balance and stability work, resistance training, and isometric muscle activation to create a challenging yet accessible full-body workout.
Íris places great emphasis on individualized group classes, so each participant works according to their own body and goals. She holds Barre teaching certification from The Barre Collective in London and Pilates certification from Exhale Pilates in London in ”classical mat” system.
